Sticks Celebrates Heart Month

Did you know that Sticks has heart-healthy menu items approved by registered dieticians? Next time you dine with us, ask about them. 

Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the US. The good news is that it’s highly preventable with lifestyle changes, such as diet and exercise. Sticks provides quick, easy, healthful alternatives to fast food that can help you maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle on the go.

Registered dieticians with the University of Virginia’s Club Red Clinic evaluated Sticks’ menu options based on the American Heart Associations’s guidelines for calories, total fat, saturated fat, sodium and dietary fiber. These are Club Red Clinic approved choices:
Kebobs:
• “Club Red” Platter – a chicken, beef, lamb, pork or vegetable kebob with half portions of rice and bread
• Any kebob sandwich or salad made with chicken, beef, lamb, pork or veggies
Sauces:
• Cucumber yogurt sauce
• Roasted red pepper sauce

Sides:
• Cucumber, tomato, and red onion salad (1/2 cup)
• Sesame beans (1/2 cup)
• Marinated grilled veggie salad (1/2 cup)
• Roasted eggplant salad (1/2 cup)
• Tabouleh (1/2 cup)
• Hummus ( 2 Tbsp)

In Charlottesville, Club Red is holding a series of events for Heart Month like a Hula Hoop Class with a professional hula hoop instructor on February 17 and a Women’s Heart Health Workshop on February 23. Visit www.clubreduva.com to learn more and register for these free events.

In Richmond, HCA Virginia Health System is holding a Day of Dance with free screening for women on February 25 at 30 locations in and around Richmond. Each location will have a raffle that includes ldinner for two from Sticks! To participate, go to women.hcavirginia.com.
